About Dr. Wayne Moran
He’s been in the addiction field for over 30 years!
He is a Founding Board Member of the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM), which was inaugurated in April 1999 and was chairman of the treatment committee. In November 2005 he received his certification in Addiction Medicine from the International Society of Addiction Medicine. (This requires 5 years of specialist training and 250 hours of continuing medical education credits in Addiction Medicine.)
He received his degree in medicine (M.B., B.S.) at Guy’s Hospital Medical School London, is a medical practitioner in Hong Kong and fully registered with the Hong Kong Medical Council since 1980.
He has a specialist interest in the field of Alcoholism & other Drug Addiction since 1991 and trained in the USA with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), of which he is member, and has connections both at Hazelden and The Betty Ford Center (two of the foremost treatment centres for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction).
Having been certified by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council in April 1998 and recertified in May 2009. He’s also qualified to establish drug testing programmes in schools and workplaces.
Scientific conferences and other training courses
He is a current board member of The New Medico-Legal Society of Hong Kong.
Specifically, he consults for alcohol and other drug abuse. His particular expertise is in assessment of alcohol & drug dependency in adults/adolescents, followed by detoxification and placement in an appropriate rehabilitation centre.
