Guglielmo Cenci (William), Osteopath & Sports Massage Therapist
M.Ost – UCO (BSO) – UK
SMT – Itec – UK
Guglielmo is a UK-certified osteopath and sports massage therapist, who graduated from one of the leading Universities of Osteopathy in Europe. After gaining working experience in private and community clinics, both in the UK and Italy, Hong Kong got on his radar.
Guglielmo offers musculoskeletal and visceral treatments to help to treat a wide range of aches and pains and improve quality of life. As an Osteopath, during his practice, he focuses on restoring the optimal function of the human body. He does so by designing integrative treatments, considering the human body as a unit: mind and the direct mechanical relationship of body structures. Furthermore, he believes that his patients are unique. Each one of them needs a personally tailored approach and treatment plan.
In clinical practice he finds particular interest in treating: office workers and helping them manage their ergonomic workstations; giving advice and exercise; manage systemic pathologies and conditions, by working on different body systems to enhance the human body’s self-healing capabilities; and the management of acute and chronic case scenarios that affect the general population.

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment based on traditional medicine, centred on drug-free non-invasive manual therapy.
An Osteopath considers the human body as a whole, and does not solely treat the symptoms (e.g. pain), but goes further to look after the cause (e.g. joint disorder). Osteopaths build their practice on 4 core principles:
- The Person is a Unit
- The Body is capable of Self-Heal and Self-Regulate
- The Body’s Structure and Function are reciprocally interrelated
- Rational treatment is based on these principles
By merging these principles with traditional medical assessments and diagnosis, osteopaths aim to avoid the use of medications and surgical procedures. Where possible, the role of the osteopath is to help the human body to repair the damage naturally. Osteopaths help the musculoskeletal system retrieve strength to treat existing conditions and to prevent issues in the future.
Osteopathy is a practice which includes: diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of disorders and conditions related to the whole musculoskeletal system. It takes into account how these conditions are linked to the patient’s health and general well-being.
Your Osteopath treats a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain to acute injuries. Using a variety of techniques, osteopaths are suitable for all: children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, and athletes alike. With their treatment, osteopaths can also target various anatomical structures (joints, ligaments, muscles, fasciae) that can limit the body in its normal physiological functioning.
The ability to perform a treatment in a range of extremely gentle to a more forceful manner, combined with a direct or indirect approach, has caused practitioners to look differently at the application of the techniques, generally making the decision on a case-by-case basis of clinical presentation.
Benefits of Osteopathy

What To Expect From Your Osteopath?
During the first osteopathic medicine consultation, a broad case history will be taken. Questions asked will be regarding your symptoms, the possible causes, your medical history, and your lifestyle.
Through the first part of the consultation Guglielmo (William), will assess your posture and range of movement of your body. If necessary, to distinguish the structure causing the symptoms, orthopaedic and/or clinical diagnostic examinations will be completed.
Guglielmo (William) will then explain to you the cause of your pain and any postural or lifestyle aspects contributing to the presenting symptoms. The treatment will be carried out taking into consideration all the structures related to the problem. To conclude the session, relevant exercise, nutrition and lifestyle advice will be recommended.
On the follow-up consultations, your Osteopathic Doctor will give a quick review of symptoms and progress, a re-examination to measure any change in the presentation of your symptoms. This will be followed by an extensive treatment.
Due to the nature of Osteopathy being a hands-on discipline, and therefore facilitate the manual treatment, the Osteopath could ask the patient to remove items of clothing such as trousers or shirt. If you wish, it is advisable to bring a pair of comfortable shorts and top/sports bra to wear.

“Before I met Guglielmo I thought my days of competing on my motorcycle were over. I had excruciating low back pain which went into my left leg which was really disabling and scary to deal with both mentally and physically. Guglielmo was really empathetic of my situation and after an examination he made a clear diagnosis. He explained what he could do to help me which was very reassuring and put my mind at ease. He put a management plan together which ran alongside my heavy training schedule and I have never looked back. I couldn’t believe how effective his treatment was and cured my low back problem which has given me belief in my body again. I had also suffered with acid reflux for many years, which Guglielmo screened for during questioning on the initial consultation, after which he treated using visceral techniques and it has really helped.”

“With an injury to the ligaments of my left shoulder I thought I would not be able to do any CrossFit competitions for a very long time. Guglielmo’s treatment has put me back on track in 2 months! He demonstrated to be very competent and aware of all the rehab work needed outside the treating room to get back on track. Thanks to his advice, I am now more aware of how to treat my body, in general, to prevent any other injuries.”
